Should I Cancel My Aptera Reservation?

Back in June 2008 I put down my $500 deposit to reserve an Aptera which was promising production vehicles for late 2009! Well it’s almost 2010 and the only news to come out of Aptera is bad news. They had to layoff 10 employees, the two co-founders will temporarily be removed from day-to-day operations and that they have made changes to the body. To top it off they said the Aptera should be available in 2010. Would you believe them or are they just trying to buy time?

To me timing is everything, I currently have a lease and would like my next vehicle to be an 100% electric one. Tesla hopes to launch the Model S in 2011, Nissan’s LEAF plans to launch in 2012. The decision is tough because ideally i’d choose the Model S over a LEAF or Aptera, but it’s also about $15,000 – $20,000 more in price.

Also other companies are like Mitsubishi plan on launching electric vehicles soon, so if you were me would you keep your deposit with Aptera, transfer my deposit over to the Model S or just patiently wait?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Sounds like those guys are just making interest off you’re $500 while they try to raise cash to build a production line.

I don’t know if they will refund your money. They might have used it all for production like the above person said. I think you should cancel since they can’t seem to get it together for production date. Good luck in getting your money!
