Right now only Tesla Motors has a 100% electric vehicle in production, unfortunately the Tesla Roadster is over six figures, their Model S is lower priced at $50,000. But no auto maker has produced an electric vehicle under $30,000 yet, and Nissan LEAF may be the first!

The For Dummies book reference probably helps you gauge my age, but I saw a behind-the-scenes footage of the Chevy Volt pre-production factory and learned a thing or two about the Volt that I wanted to clarify and share, find out more after the jump!

I know i’ve reserved an Aptera, but i’m tempted to reserve the Model S instead. The more I learn about the Model S, the more practical and luxurious it seems. I know it cost $15k more than the Aptera but I mean look at it! The functional exterior designs, interior seating and cargo room, plus all the tech. Anyways enjoy the video!

It’s great to see more and more production ready electric vehicles hit the market like this i-MiEV (Mitsubishi Innovative Electric Vehicle). i-MiEV has a roomy interior for four adults and a sensible range of upwards of 100 miles from its advanced lithium-ion battery pack. Get me a fleet for my eco-friendly Taxi company!
i-MiEV doesn’t look that bad, kinda like a VW bug or a Yaris, and performance includes an ultra-quiet permanent magnet synchronous motor and a powerfully efficient lithium-ion battery pack that can be quick-charged up to 80 percent of capacity in as little as 30 minutes. An onboard charger accepts 110V (12-14 hour full-charge time) or 220V in half that time.

Overall the turnout was good, there was a mix of seriosly interested people and casual on lookers. It was fun to see co-founders Steve Fambro and Chris Anthony, and the Aptera in person of course. I tried my best to keep tweets going with photos but twitterific on my iPhone was acting up so I switched over to TwitterFon app.
I’ve done tons of research on Aptera from their website and forums, I guess the only thing that was new to me last night was that they let us vote on 4 different interior designs. I think the latest Aptera 2e had design #1 created by Jason Hill’s company “11″.
I was sad there was only one Aptera 2e available to sit in, the line was very long and before my turn came up they took the Aptera away for test drives. I guess it was my luck since the guy behind me and then in front of me each won a raffle to ride in the Aptera. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to take pics of the interior as promised, hopefully I’ll get a chance next time if they visit Orange County!

Tonight’s the exclusive Aptera event in San Diego from 6pm-10pm, and being a reservation holder we get to go! Please follow us on twitter for live updates and pics or check out greenerist.com tomorrow. We know tons of pics have been flying around for the Aptera already, so we want to be a little different and take pics of the Aptera that haven’t been seen on the net. So look forward to seeing things like the trunk interior, glove box, pedals, door handles, seat adjustment buttons, and pretty much anything else we can get!

I’ve been anxiously awaiting for my Aptera, but now I got to see the official images of the new Tesla Model S and i’m not really sure which one to choose from? Model S can hold 5 more passengers (7 passengers total), go 200 more miles (300 miles total) on a charge, it has a 45 minute quick charge, and has a giant 17 inch infotainment.
Model S seems to have more of everything compared to the Aptera (even has one more wheel), but sometimes more isn’t better, like the cost… around $25,000 more ($50,000 total). I’ll probably decide sometime next week if I should drop $5,000 down to reserve a Model S or just stick with the Aptera. Which vehicle do you think I should get?

We at the greenerist have an Aptera-2h on reserve so we’ve been keeping up to date with Aptera’s progress. Right now the Aptera-2e has gone through some big changes which delayed production. However these changes are pretty significant and highlighted in the picture above. Check out the side roll-down windows so you can hit the drive-thru, side view mirrors cause we’re just so used to them, one rear view camera for improved 180 degree rear vision and front-wheel drive!

Lemeneo Smera is another tandem style electric car, similar to our Tango post. What makes Smera different is that it aims at being the luxury tandem electric car. It has a practical size trunk that can hold 3 laptop bags on floor. And the cockpit offers a panoramic look around the entire vehicle. Price is expected to be around $40,000.

The Tango is a tandem styled 2-seater electric car. This narrow design allows the Tango to maneuver like a motorcycle but still have all the comforts and safety of a car. For being such a small car, the Tango has some big safety features you can read about on their website. But let’s move on to the fun stuff! Check out the performance numbers: Over 1,000 ft-lbs. of torque, zero to 60 mph in 4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 130mph. There are 3 different models ranging from $18,500 to $108,000!
